A typical used tote is not. Polyethylene absorbs what it held, and washing does not reverse that. For food or drinking water, use a new container suited to that use and check current regulations.

Use a new container for drinking water. A used tote with known, benign prior contents may suit non-potable uses such as garden irrigation or wash water.

Ask the seller for the prior contents in writing, ideally from the original label. A tote with unknown prior contents should be treated as non-food, non-potable only.

No. Surfactants, solvents, glycols and agricultural chemicals migrate into the bottle wall during service and can leach back out into the next fill. No wash reverses that.

S60x6 on nearly everything modern — a coarse buttress thread, 60 mm outside diameter. Older and some European units use S100x8 at 100 mm; a reducing bushing bridges the two.
