Half the containers in this yard could be something more useful with two hours of work and $60 of fittings. The fabrication shop exists because customers kept asking, and because a modified tote that stays in service for another decade is a far better outcome than a bale of flake.

Can you add a bottom drain to an IBC tote?

Yes — a bulkhead-fitted bottom drain is one of our most requested modifications, and it is the only way to fully evacuate a sludge, slurry or settling product. It is a fabricated bulkhead through the bottle base with a reinforcing plate, a valve and a stand or tilt frame so the outlet clears the pallet. Expect $180–$320 depending on size and valve specification.

Do you build to a drawing?

A drawing, a sketch on a napkin or a photograph of something you saw at a trade show. Most of our fabrication work starts as a phone photo in the message field of the quote form. We will come back with a build description, a price and a lead time before anything is cut.

What can't you fabricate?

Pressure vessels above the original rating of the container, anything that would compromise a UN marking without re-certification, and modifications to totes whose prior contents are outside our permitted list. We also decline fuel-dispensing builds on polyethylene bottles — that work goes on a steel bin, every time.

How long does custom work take?

Five to twelve business days for most builds, quoted with the job. Repeat builds of something we have made before run faster. Rush work is possible and priced accordingly; we will tell you honestly whether the shop can genuinely hit your date.

Vocabulary, in twelve lines

IBC: Intermediate bulk container — anything between a drum and a tanker, in practice 110–550 gallons on a forkliftable base.
Composite IBC: An HDPE bottle inside a welded steel cage on a pallet base. The 275 and 330 gallon workhorses.
Tare: Empty weight of the container: 125–135 lb for a 275, 140–155 lb for a 330.
Gross mass: Container plus contents. Most 275s are rated to 2,800 lb; exceed it and the bottle bulges rather than bursts.
Node: A welded intersection in the cage where load actually transfers. The correct place to inspect.
S60x6: The standard outlet thread: 60 mm OD, 6 mm pitch buttress. Hand tight only.
Prior contents: What the container last held, logged against the original label. The single most consequential fact about any used tote.
Rebottle: A new HDPE bottle fitted into an inspected existing cage — virgin interior, 38% less embodied carbon than new.
